Passive voice and Conditionals



PASSIVE VOICE

1.     The Passive tense is used because…..

We can show that the object is more important than the subject.

2.     When we use the passive voice?

a)     When the person who did the action is unknown
b)    Someone is trying to hide who did it
c)     It’s obvious who did the action
d)    It’s not important who did the action

3.     The structure to use the passive voice in the

PAST TENSE is:
·         Object + to be (PAST) + Past Participle + (By + Subject)

PRESENT PROGRESSIVE is:
·         Object + to be (PRESENT) + Being + Past Participle + (By + Subject)




CONDITIONALS


1.     Which tenses are used in first conditional? Write an example about it

Simple Present + Simple Future

·         If he doesn’t run, he will be late to his job.

2.     What is the characteristic of the first conditional?

Is that we can use it when we are talking of a possibility situation.


3.     Which tenses are used in second conditional? Write an example about it

Simple Past + Modal Verb (would/ could/ should/ might) + Verb

·         If I bought an airplane, I would travel around the world

4.     The pronoun comes whit the verb to be in the second conditional in which form?

In the second conditional the order is MODAL VERB + VERB (infinitive).
And for this reason we don’t use comes in second conditional.

Simple  present

WH question
·  What is your home town situated?

·  What is your home town like?
In the question are using WHAT and no WHERE, and this is the reason that its necessary use like and no situated.
6) How …… are you?
Adjectives
·  How long are you?

·  How heavy are you?
Because if we ask HOW LONG ARE YOU? It’s wrong, because HOW LONG, means about a distance in the time and in the question are talking about an adjective.
14) This beer tastes …….
Adverbs
·  This beer tastes well
·  This beer tastes lovley
When we talk WELL it’s to express a great situation, but LOVLEY it’s that something it’s really good.
15) In life …… can make a mistake; we’re all human.
Indefinite Pronoun
·  In life some people can make a mistake; we’re all human.
·  In life anyone can make a mistake; we’re all human.
In the question are talking about Who many people aren´t perfect? And the correct answer is anyone.
17) If he …… about it, I’m sure he’d help.
Second conditional
·  If he had know about it, I’m sure he’d help
·  If he knew about it, I’m sure he’d help
In the sentence are using second conditional and the rule is in the first part when we use IF is necessary use the verb in PAST SIMPLE and in the second parte the subject needs to be whit a modal verb

Modal verbs
·  They said they may come, but they didn’t.
·  They said they might come, but they didn’t.
Because when I say MAY I’m telling about something that he can do it, but when I say MIGHT I’m telling about something maybe I can do it.

Simple present tense
·  It's all right, we shouldn’t hurry. We have plenty of time.
·  It's all right, we needn’t hurry. We have plenty of time.
the context means it is not an advice it shows another form of write the tense in simple present

·  Mr Haines wants you come to his office
·  Mr Haines wants you to come to his office
To is like an auxiliary that  in this case show Mr haines' authorithy

It's an american expression

It means a distance among here and berlin but in the context it most clear Far

Phrasal Verbs

Because the doctor said that she need to left the beer and the rest of alcoholic drinks and the Phrasal Verb that means that its GIVE UP.

In the context the best verb that we can use is SAYING because that means something that the other person are saying to us about a relative situation and TELLING It’s when the other person are saying something about an specific situation

Comparative
·   I prefer drink beer than wine.
·   I would rather drink beer than wine.

Simple Past
·  I gave her a set of earrings for Christmas.
·  I gave her a pair of earrings for Christmas.
Because when I say earrings I’m telling that are two and if a I say a pair of earrings I’m making a redundancy.

Adverb

Quantifiers
·  Would you like some more tea? There's still a few left.
·  Would you like some more tea? There's still a little left.
Because we use FEW only after a plural sentence and it’s for numbers but we can use LITTLE in a singular sentence and it use for amounts

Present Perfect Simple
·  We have announced for a receptionist but haven't appointed anyone yet.
·  We have advertised for a receptionist but haven't appointed anyone yet.
In the context the mean ANNOUNCE is when are telling something to a group, but when tell ADVERTISED is when one person say to other person that somebody or something has been arrive.

Simple Present
·  She's very beautiful but that kind of woman doesn't attract to me.
·  She's very beautiful but that kind of woman doesn't appeal to me.
When we talk about attract is the force like a magnet, but when we talk about APPEAL we are saying about the feeling to the other person.

Present Progressive
·  "I'm going to the cinema on Saturday." "So I do
·  "I'm going to the cinema on Saturday." "So am I"
Because he are telling that he are in this moment in the cinema, not that he will be there.

Past Perfect
·  They had to leave the flat because they couldn't pay the fare

·  They had to leave the flat because they couldn't pay the rent
Because in this case are talking about an apartment that they couldn’t pay the monthly payment.

Simple Past

Present Perfect Simple

·  The book shop rang to say that the dictionary you ordered has arrived.
In the context the best verb that we can use is SAY because It’s when the other person are saying something about an specific situation and TELL that means something that the other person are saying to us about a relative situation

Because in the sentences have a negative part and if we use NEITHER we are making a redundancy and for this reason it’s better to use EITHER
